National Homebrew Competition 2019

2015 - All systems are go!

Here we go again! The SOBA National Homebrew Competition for 2015 is launched.

The judging will be held in Auckland this year on November 7th at The Fine Wine Company’s new Constellation Drive store. We’re sure this year is going to be the biggest yet, but whether it’s going to be better is over to you the New Zealand Homebrewer.

After years of nurturing the competition in Hamilton Greig McGill has stepped back from the helm and we have a mostly new team of organisers pulling it together, but as always based on Phil Murray’s superb IT backbone. There are always a large number of volunteers behind the scenes and if you would like the opportunity to be involved watch this space for the call for stewards nearer the time.

This year we are back using the BJCP Style Guide which has been freshly updated for 2015 reflecting the new trends in beer styles. Unfortunately we were not permitted to publish these on our website but head here: BJCP 2015 for the full guide.

As always we are very grateful to our sponsors, without whose support we simply wouldn’t be able to run the competition. Please show your appreciation by supporting their businesses where you can.

In addition to appearing here all updates, news and results will be broadcast on Twitter and we welcome your feedback, ideas and help in spreading the word.

So with the October deadline in mind, it’s time to get your brews on!

Cheers Tom Coleman SOBA NHC 2015 Convener
